We ask for options believing they free us. But every door we leave open and never walk through starts, in time, to weigh like a reproach.
Freedom is not having alternatives; it is being able to give them up. Whoever never chooses, so as not to lose anything, ends up losing everything slowly: their life does not go on mistakes, it goes on rehearsals that commit to nothing. The possibilities we do not live do not evaporate, they pile up like bills.
Choosing hurts because it kills versions of yourself. But only what dies makes room. Whoever wants everything left open ends up living in a corridor of doors: plenty of air, and not one room to finally stay in.
