Poem · From the Margen catalogue

The glass on the nightstand

I fill it every night just in case, and almost never drink.

It wakes untouched, with tiny bubbles clinging to the glass, as if the water too had sat up all night.

Nobody signed anything, but it is a contract: it watches my thirst, I watch its calm.

In the morning I empty it into the plant pot. Thirst and fear, looked at closely, are watered the same.
