Idea · From the Margen catalogue

You have 14 days to send it back without giving a reason

You open the box, try the boots on and they are not it. In Spain, any distance purchase (website, telephone, catalogue) comes with fourteen calendar days of withdrawal, the right to send it back without explaining anything. It is in article 102 of the consumer law, Royal Legislative Decree 1/2007. Five things almost nobody uses:

1. The fourteen days run from when you receive the parcel, not from when you pay.

2. You do not have to give a reason. If the form makes you pick one, pick any: they cannot reject the return over that.

3. If the shop never told you about this right, the deadline stretches twelve months further, under article 105.

4. They refund the price and also the standard outbound shipping, within fourteen days (article 107). You only pay for the return leg if they warned you before you bought.

5. There are exceptions, in article 103: personalised goods, perishables, hygiene-sealed items you have already opened, and digital content you have already downloaded.

And the point that surprises everyone: in the shop round the corner this right does not exist. If they take it back, that is shop policy, not law.

Open the confirmation email for your last order and look at the delivery date. That is where your countdown starts.
