Big Ben isn't the tower

Almost everyone points at London's famous clock tower and says «Big Ben». And almost everyone is wrong.

Big Ben is, in fact, the nickname of the great bell that hangs inside the tower and strikes the hours with its celebrated chime. The tower has its own name: since 2012 it has been called Elizabeth Tower, in honour of the queen.

A borrowed name that stuck so firmly that almost no one now remembers whom it really belonged to.
