When a scout bee finds a good field of flowers, it returns to the hive and tells the others by dancing.
It's the «waggle dance»: it waggles its abdomen while moving in a straight line, and the angle of that line relative to the vertical tells the others in which direction the food lies relative to the sun. The duration of the waggle indicates the distance.
Deciphering it earned Karl von Frisch the Nobel Prize in 1973. A language made of dance steps, perfected over millions of years.
