We tend to run up merciless debts in the name of who we'll be tomorrow. We leave them the dirty dishes, the conversation still pending, the hard decision, the “I'll do it when I feel like it”. We treat them like a stranger we owe nothing to.
Which is odd, because that tomorrow-self does exist: they're going to wake up in your bed, with your tiredness, and inherit exactly what you left them today. Putting things off doesn't make the work disappear; it hands it to someone you care about a great deal — you — while pretending it's someone else's problem.
Turn it around: treat tomorrow's you like a guest who's coming to sleep over. Leave them the kitchen half-tidied, one thing less on their back, a small breather ready. Not out of duty, but out of affection. They're the one person you'll see without fail for the rest of your life.
